I quickly learnt to stay vigilant: When a 5 is played, ALL cards rotate (reversing their strength) & the trump suit changes.

Why I love Co-operative Trick-takersFrom the very beginning, I knew I wanted Trickarus (https://gamemarket.jp/game/185619) to have a co-operative game mode. Playing a co-operatively with friends or family brings such a satisfying feeling when we reach our shared goals together.In Trickarus’ co-operative mode, all players try to fly as high as they can and then to have as many players as possible land back safely on the ground. Without communicating what’s in your hand, you’ll have to try to figure out how you can work together to avoid some players from being left behind.Coming from from Contract Bridge world, I appreciate the lifetime of strategy one can explore in trick-taking games: drawing out the opponents’ best cards, creating new winners in your own hand by playing your long suit, getting rid of your short suit so you can trump latter tricks, visualizing what cards have not yet been played and which hands they are likely to be in… If you and your friends enjoy these aspects of trick-taking, you’ll feel right at home with Trickarus.But I also wanted the game to be fun for those who play more casually! When I play this game with my 7 year old son, he usually just plays the highest card he can. In co-operative mode, this becomes a fun challenge for me as his partner. What should I play knowing that he’s always going to try to play higher if he can? How can I prevent him from winning too many tricks at the beginning so that he cannot win some later?Which mode should you play first: competitive or co-operative?
