What is Game Market?
Game Market is an exhibition event held twice a year in Tokyo, Japan centered around tabletop games, card games, and more! Watch the video below to get a glimpse of the Game Market event held back in Autumn of 2022:
Game Market is an event for a variety of gamers to come together and enjoy their shared hobby of tabletop gaming.
Game Market Summary
The focus of Game Market is to celebrate and promote the wonderful hobby of tabletop gaming.
Exhibitors will have their game titles on display and for sale, encompassing several varieties such as board games, card games, tabletop RPGs, and more! Beyond the games themselves, you will find a plethora of game accessories such as meeples, dice, instruction manuals, and more available for purchase.
With the booths set up for demo test plays, games for children, real-life mystery games and more, there are games and fun for all ages during the two days of the convention. Not to mention the main stage which will have events for all attendees to enjoy.
Game Market features a variety of exhibitor booths, from independent designers to well-known industry giants. With so much to see and do, there is no way you could experience everything in just one day! We have seen a steady increase in the number of exhibitors over the years, reaching over 1,200 booths in our most recent Spring 2023 event.
Likewise, we have seen strong growth in the number of attendees as well. Reaching a peak in Autumn 2019 with approximately 29,000 visitors, the convention was unfortunately cancelled afterwards several times due to COVID-19, but even after reinstating the event on a smaller scale we are seeing momentum pick back up with around 22,000 attendees coming to our most recent Spring 2023 event.
Concept
There is a lot to love about tabletop gaming, but one of the biggest draws is how easily it magically brings people together to have some fun.
As a tabletop game convention, Game Market wants to provide a place where people can come together and have fun enjoying the wonderful games we all love.
To achieve this, the players and our respectful consideration for each other is as important as the games themselves.
Game Market strives to foster an environment of mutual respect where we learn not just about the games we play, but the also the people we are playing with.

Pre-Event Schedule
Regarding Exhibitions
- Game Market is accepting applications for booths on the showroom floor from exhibitors who would like to feature their board games, card games, tabletop RPGs, trading card games or any other kinds of tabletop games.
- Games can be of an original design, new or old releases, used games, anything related to tabletop games are welcome! The same rule applies to any other goods and merchandise as long as they have a connection to tabletop games, they can be made available for sale.
- As a general rule, please use the demo spaces for game demonstrations, including test playing and hands-on experiences.
- Digital titles for smartphone, tablet, and PC may also be featured as long as they are based on a tabletop game.
- A large number of event attendees are minors. As such, there is a general rule that the sale and demonstrations of adult-oriented products (i.e. containing material that is sexually explicit or offensive to public morals.) are not allowed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How can I get permission for interviews and to take photos and videos as a media outlet?
A. Apply for a Media Pass by the deadline through the Media Application Form.
Alternatively, you can visit the reception table for media and staff for applications on the day of the event. Accepted Media Pass applicants should come to the media reception table on the day of the event to pick up their Media Pass arm band. Please be sure to wear this on your arm.
Even after receiving the arm band, we ask that you please be sure obtain permission from any individuals that you interview or take photos and videos of. We also request that you avoid disrupting the operations of the event of causing discomfort to others.
Outside of media coverage, there are no special restrictions on retail and publishing representatives conducting business activities with exhibitors. However, please be careful not to engage in any activities that may make exhibitors feel uncomfortable. Additionally, please do not engage in interviews etc. outside of the exhibition hall.

Q. What should I keep in mind when taking photos or videos?
A. Always obtain the consent of those you will take photos or videos of beforehand. Special consideration should be given to the rights of usage to the likeness of those who appear in the photographs and permission should be obtained before taking photographs. This goes for photos or video taken with smartphones or cellphones as well. Please familiarize yourself with Japanese privacy laws regarding taking photos and videos in public beforehand.
Additionally, in an effort to avoid any misunderstandings, please take all photos and videos in a clear and open manner so as not arouse any suspicion that you may be doing so without permission.
Depending on the location, staff may ask you to stop taking photographs or video.
Also please be aware that event management staff will be taking photographs and videos within the exhibition hall throughout the event which may end up being used in future promotions.
Q. How can I participate as an exhibitor?
A. Unfortunately, the recruitment period for the Autumn 2023 event has already concluded. If you would like to participate in future events, please keep in mind that correspondence for the event is primarily in Japanese, and a Japanese address is required in order to receive materials for the event. If you meet these requirements and would like to attend as an exhibitor in future events, check the application information posted to the information pages at a future date.
Q. How can I attend?
A. Attendance is possible either through general admission or as an exhibitor. Game Market Autumn 2023 general admission ticket are expected to go on sale in early November. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the gate on the days of the event (cash only).
