To International Publishers and Buyers

In recent years, as the international profile of games originating in Japan has risen, we've seen an increase in participation at Game Market from international publishers eager to release titles globally, and from "Overseas buyers" who acquire games to introduce to publishers.

Game Market is quite unique globally; it began as a gathering place for individuals, not established board game publishers, to present their creations. Our core philosophy is to create an event primarily for these individual, non-commercial exhibitors. We've heard from these exhibitors that they often feel uneasy interacting with overseas buyers due to a lack of background information regarding their affiliations or track records. For those with limited commercial experience, a sudden discussion about a contract can be quite daunting. This plan was established to ensure these exhibitors can also enjoy the event with peace of mind.

Overseas buyers are crucial partners who help spread exhibitors' works, and indeed, Japanese games, to the global market. Making information visible through catalog listings and venue panels facilitates these vital conversations, especially with our unique exhibitor base. Furthermore, the strong participation of numerous international companies helps us promote Game Market's increasingly global nature, both domestically and internationally.

That's why we created the International Business Plan. This system aims to enhance the recognition and presence of overseas buyers in Japan, while also supporting smoother and more effective licensing discussions between them and Japanese game designers.

At our last event, participants shared their company information and past achievements through the catalog and on venue panels. They also had valuable interactions with Japanese game designers during a pre-event business meeting with interpreter support and in a dedicated business meeting space. For Game Market 2025 Autumn, we've incorporated feedback from our previous participants to improve and continue this plan, as outlined below. We hope your continued participation in this plan will further support your efforts in acquiring licenses in Japan.

Services Provided

  • English Support: We will handle all email correspondence and inquiries in English.
  • Access to the International Business Meeting: You can participate in the business meeting held on Friday, November 21st, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM (lunch and dinner will not be provided). We've expanded the venue to accommodate 80 people, and we plan to incorporate feedback from previous participants regarding the guest designers. Each company will receive one interpreter for support during the pre-event business meeting.
  • Priority Entry: Enter the venue from 9:00 AM, before general admission, to start business discussions, such as receiving samples (To ensure fair access for general attendees, product purchases for priority entry holders are restricted until 12:00 PM to prevent bulk buying.).
  • Exhibitor Information: We will provide detailed information about exhibitor booths, including those featuring games that have won domestic awards like the Arclight Game Award.
  • Dedicated Business Meeting Space: You will have free access to an exclusive meeting area within the venue during the main event days.
  • Exposure to Exhibitors: In addition to the official catalog, your logo and company introduction will be featured in the exhibitor manual to appeal broadly to all exhibitors. Your company's achievements and profile will also be displayed on panels around the business meeting space, increasing your recognition and presence in Japan.
  • Hotel Accommodation Option: Hotels near the venue are currently experiencing high demand, making reservations quite challenging. To support participants in this plan, we've collaborated with a major Japanese travel agency to offer a special accommodation option.
